Green Cleaning

Greening your makeup routine was easy. We know this because you found Afterglow! But greening your home cleaning routine can be a touch more difficult. So we’re bringing you some great natural cleaning tips and recipes from one of our favorite blogs, The Daily Green! Visit www.thedailygreen.com.

Cleaning Surfaces:
Avoid bleach altogether. Instead mix 2 cups of water, 3 tablespoons of natural liquid soap and 20 or so drops of tea tree oil. This mixture is excellent to use on any and all kitchen and bathroom surfaces.

Carpet Stains:
Avoid Set Stains: Get to the stain before it sets by pouring on club soda and blot with an old rag. The soda’s carbonation will bring the stain to the surface and you’ll avoid extra scrubbing later.

Spot Clean: Mix your own stain remover by blending 1/4 cup natural liquid soap or detergent with 1/3 cup water. Mix your concoction until foamy and spray on the stain. Then rinse with vinegar.

For Sparkling Wood Floors:
Make your wood floors sparkle by mixing 1/4 cup white vinegar with 30 ounces of warm water. Liberally spray this mixture onto a rag. Than mop your floors.
